What do we already know, what are our goals?
spanish :the beginning
For the beginning of the semester in Spanish I am being involved in the classes activities, while also having challenge work because I am a native Spanish speaker. My teacher and I are working together to figure out what parts of my Spanish I can refine and improve, as of right now we have agreed to work on my reading and writing skills rather than my actual speaking skills.
In the video below I am helping out another student in a basic Spanish conversation.

As a native Spanish speaker I am tasked with reading a book in Spanish. The book I chose was Nocturna by Guillermo del Toro, below there is a links to videos of me speaking about the book and where I was at in the book at that time:

Reflection of the first half of the semester:
My reading and writing in Spanish has improved drastically over this semester. My reading has improved in many ways, I can understand and comprehend almost everything I have read, and when I can’t, reading it over again two or three times allows me to understand it. I am also reading at a much faster pace since the beginning of the semester, in an hour I can read about 60 pages compared to the 30 pages at the beginning of this semester. But as much as this has helped me I think that what has really improved is my writing in Spanish. At the beginning of the semester I wrote very slowly and with many spelling errors, not knowing some of the written grammar rules of the language was a huge problem for me and I feel like it really impacted my writing prowess in my assignments. At this point in time, I can write at a much faster rate, knowing a little more grammar allows me to put together my writing in the language in ways I wasn’t able to do before. This half of the semester has been a huge step forward in improving and mastering reading and writing in Spanish and I cant wait to keep the momentum going on to the rest of the year.
